Yield: 1 Cup

8 1-ounce squares semisweet or sweet chocolate; in pieces
1/2cHeavy cream
1pnGrated nutmeg
1/2tsGround cloves
1/2tsGround cinnamon
1pnGround mace or mixed spice
1/4cCoffee liqueur, dark rum, or brandy

Melt the chocolate with the cream in a fondue pot on the stove. Add the spices and stir until smooth. Stir in the alcohol and serve, over a table burner if possible.
